Hmm, it's hard to say what the cause is then (it could be your browser, but also third party software) - usually Cookies aren't disabled by default. There are
tutorials around the web how to enable them again, but of course, you should make sure that the person who disabled them in first place is fine with that ;P Teachnically there's nothing really to be said against cookies - they allow websites to remember certain things, like whether you are logged in and such. For example, if actual cookies are enabled, this website would remember you when you return and tell you what messages are now and such, if only session-cookies are enabled, you'd need to log in everytime when you visit it to see what messages are new. And of course, if no cookies are enabled at all, you'd need to track all messages yourself, like you do right now ;P So, it's not really essential, but more a comfort thingy ;3
